Q. Why
doesn't the program start?
A. On
version 1.00 the steering wheel software and hardware must be
present to run Response. Version 1.01 and beyond will use the
keyboard if no steering wheel is present.
Q. Why does the program give an error of " Error writing to
Response.ini file"?
A. User must have administrative privileges on the computer to write to
the Windows folder.
Q. Why
doesn't the video play?
A. Microsoft
Windows Media Player must be installed on your computer. Go to www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia and download and install the
software.
Q. How do I
see the report?
A. After
testing, click on the View Report Icon. If no session is open,
click on the Open Icon to open a session, then click on the View
Report Icon.
Q. Where do I find the data on a client?
A. The data is stored in a folder named the same as the client name
typed into Options/Editors. This folder is found in the folder
listed in General Options, usually called My Documents\Response
Data.
Q. How do I add data to a session?
A. Open the session then click the "Cont. Session" button.
Q. Why does the program display "Wrong Response" sometimes?
A. This often happens when light brake is the condition and the client
presses on the brake pedal too hard. The settings for the
brake pedal can be changed in Options/Scenario.
Q. Why does the program display "No Response" sometimes?
A. This happens when the minimum brake or turn percentage for the
condition is not met. Adjust these values if necessary.
Q. Why does the program display "Red Light" sometimes?
A. The Client must keep the speed in the green zone of the speedometer.
If the speed goes over then under the minimum speed it will abort
the test with the "Red Light" error message. The minimum and
maximum speed is set in Options/Scenario.
Q. Why can't I view a report?
A. A session must be open to view the report. Open a session then
click the icon for report. Other reports can be opened from
the report window.
Q. Why is the video jerky sometimes?
A. If the "Speed Adjusted Video" checkbox is checked in Options the
program tries to adjust the playback rate based on the throttle
position. If it is a problem, uncheck the checkbox and the
video will run at a constant rate regardless of throttle position.
Q. Why don't the wheel and pedals work?
A. Another joystick is already installed on the computer. Even if
the previous joystick is not physically connected to the computer,
the software may still be active. You must set the wheel to
the Preferred device in Windows XP or set the wheel controller ID to
1 in other versions of Windows. Use the Control Panel, Game
Controllers to change the wheel and other joystick options.
In XP open the control panel, double click on Game Controllers,
click the Advanced button and change the Preferred device to the
wheel you want to use with the program.
In other versions of windows open the control panel, double click
on Gaming options, click the Controller IDs tab, click the wheel you
want to use with Response, click the Change... button and change the
ID to 1.
Game Controller questions:
Q. I cannot find a place to calibrate my Logitech Game Controller. Why?
A. The current generation of Logitech game controllers are
automatically calibrated when Windows starts with one already
connected, or when a Logitech controller is connected after Windows
boots. Therefore, they do not need to be calibrated.
Q. My controller seems to have lost calibration. What do I do?
A. If the device appears to be uncalibrated, simply disconnect and
reconnect the game controller to the USB port. It is very important
that when you reconnect the device the joystick(s) remains centered.
Q. I have disconnected and reconnected the controller but the
calibration is still off. What do I do?
A. The calibration information is stored in the Windows registry. It is
possible that the information is corrupt. The Clear Calibration
Utility will remove this information so that the calibration
information can be re-written to the registry. Please note that all
calibration information will be removed including non-Logitech game
controllers. This means you may have to recalibrate all controllers

Q. I have tried the Clear Calibration Utility but my controller is
still not calibrated correctly. What do I do?
A. If the controller is not correctly calibrated it may be defective.
If this is the case please exchange the controller at the point of
purchase. If this is not possible please contact Logitech to arrange
an RMA replacement.
